Nota sulle conseguenze dell'intasamento degli alvei

Tue, 16/11/2021 -- engeology

This paper is an overview of the methods available to investigate the progressive clogging of the riverbed, causing the disconnection of the riverfrom the aquifer. For examples, has long been observed that the deposition of industrial sludges hinders the exchanges of surface water network and the groundwater, increasing the irrigation cost . Moreover this imbalance can give rise to a significant reduction in inflows to the aquifers.

This study highlights that this problem also concerns the design of infrastructures and disposalplants, because a large part of the volume of material conveyed by the infrastructure networks towards the watercourses consists of fine sediments, capable of rapidly causing the clogging of the riverbed and riverbanks ones.

It is therefore considered useful to provide for systematic monitoring of clogging, an indispensable premise for evaluating the order of priority of intervention on this phenomenon.
