Efficacy of hydraulic barriers in coastal areas

In order to contain the pollutants, hydraulic barriers along coast lines can be designed on the basis of equivalent head theory. A good performance can be achieved using wells pumping only from fresh water zones, which results in a wider extension of the wells capture zone.
